Embedding Tweets in WordPress

I think you can just put in the URL to take people to a Twitter feed (as in, to a person’s twitter page) – I’m testing it here, embedding the URL to my Twitter page:

https://twitter.com/KellyJohnsonDVM

As for individual tweets…Here are two articles about doing just that. It’s still just embedding the URL, but it tells you how to do that:

https://dev.twitter.com/docs/embedded-tweets

http://mikelittle.org/how-to-embed-a-tweet-in-a-wordpress-post/

These both talk about how the tweet will show up in your blog (as a tweet, not as a link or as text), but I could not get it to work no matter what I tried. If you have more luck let me know… I got as far as getting a link to show up, but never the visual display. Very frustrating…

I’m putting in the link to an individual tweet so I can play around with it once it is posted – if you see a tweet displayed below you’ll know I was successful 🙂

and also trying the other method:

<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet” lang=”en”><p>Veterinary Medicine Electronic Library <a href=”http://t.co/7nwMN0Gm32″>http://t.co/7nwMN0Gm32</a&gt; (just what it sounds like, have to register for free account) <a href=”https://twitter.com/search?q=%23LS534&amp;src=hash”>#LS534</a></p>&mdash; Kelly Johnson (@KellyJohnsonDVM) <a href=”https://twitter.com/KellyJohnsonDVM/statuses/472527811157057536″>May 30, 2014</a></blockquote>
<script async src=”//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>

Is this what you were asking about? I’m so lost I’m not even sure. This is a steep learning curve for me…

  1. I’m a WIZARD!!! So, once posted, I selected “edit”, changed from the “text” option to the “visual” option and was then able to remove the link from the line of text. No idea about the second method, but I’m sticking with this one (take the URL from the browser search bar once you have the individual tweet on your screen, paste it into your blog on an individual line – if it shows up as a hyperlink remove the link by highlighting that line and using the “remove link” icon from the toolbar of the edit screen). Success!
